Leading EHS software provider Airsweb have been recognised by industry analyst Verdantix as setting the trend in innovative wearable EHS technology. The Verdantix report ‘How Digital Technologies Enhance Health & Safety Training Outcomes’ released in April 2018, identified Airsweb as one of the ‘few firms piloting’ wearable EHS technology.

The technology identified in the report is Airsweb Safety Nudge. Briefly:

  1. Safety Nudge uses either AirVis (a smart hi-visibility jacket) or AirCompanion (IOT device) and Bluetooth beacons, placed in the hazardous zone.
  2. The beacon and the wearable device communicate with each other.
  3. If the wearable device moves into a hazardous area or out a safe zone, the beacon will alert the wearer with audio, visual and haptic notifications.

Airsweb Set the Trend with EHS Wearable Technology

Safety Nudge has been developed for use in sensitive industries like Oil and Gas where smart phones are not always permitted.

This is not the first time Verdantix has noted Airsweb’s commitment to innovation. In their definitive 2017 Green Quadrant report, Verdantix termed Airsweb a standout partner for ‘EHS VPs that have one eye on the future’.

“We are always working on new ways technology can make the workplace safer,” said Rob Leech, Product Director at Airsweb. “Our Safety Nudge offering is just one of many innovations we are researching and developing.

Our main product is called AVA. AVA is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) EHS solution which is used by EHS professionals all over the world. But we realised some years ago there was huge scope for wearable devices in EHS. So, our product roadmap focuses on AVA, but supported by a network of connected apps and devices. The aim is to not just make organisations safer through better reporting, but to use real-time data and connected devices to make work places risk aware, producing location based safety alerts.”

Airsweb Successful EHS User ConferenceAirsweb are excited to have launched their latest EHS software product to global clients during their 2017 Airsweb User Conference. The Conference was the perfect opportunity to unveil Airsweb AVA and invite clients to join the AVA journey and learn more.

The Airsweb User Conference was held over two days, November 9th and 10th and provided delegates with the opportunity to hear, first hand, about Airsweb’s strategic direction and how Airsweb are maximising innovative technologies as part of their EHS software solution.

This year, the event was hosted at the Ardencote Hotel in Warwick, which set the scene for relaxing breaks and networking.

Over the two-days, there was invaluable production content, as well as engaging and relevant product breakout sessions hosted and delivered by members of the Airsweb User Group Committee, who shared their knowledge and application of Airsweb within their organisation.

It was also a great opportunity for clients to hear Airsweb AVA user experience from BETA clients, who thoroughly praised the flexibility and intuitive interface.

Airsweb Successful EHS User ConferenceTo draw on the theme of Innovative Technologies, Guest speaker, David Metcalfe, CEO of Verdantix also shared invaluable insight on why it is important to “Plan Your Company’s Innovation Journey” with delegates receiving a copy of the latest report.

Airsweb Successful EHS User ConferenceAirsweb Innovation and R&D experts, Rob Leech, Airsweb Technical Director and Graham Frost, Airsweb Solutions Architect, offered delegates the chance to find out how innovative technologies was helping the EHS landscape, through a journey of Hindsight, Insight and Foresight. Demonstrating how technology can influence and help improve safety behaviours with audio and virtual reality, to wearable ‘safety nudge’ technologies – ideal for many of the most vulnerable workers who work out in the field or fringe workers who are exposed to increased risk and accidents.

But the main highlight of the event was the launch of the new generation product to clients, Airsweb AVA, which represents the evolution of a world-class safety solution. Based on innovative technology AVA provides revolutionary insights that empower and inspire a positive safety culture, helping clients achieve exceptional levels of safety excellence.

AVA challenges the way we look at Health and Safety and puts the control in the hands of the user.

Emma Glenc, H&S Strategy and Performance Manager at Volkerrail is also a member of the Airsweb User Group Committee, shared “The general feedback from the delegates was that the conference was engaging and informative. They particularly liked the product breakout sessions where they could hear the airsweb users personal experiences of the system but also be able to discuss what challenges they faced within their own organisation. Everyone seemed very excited by the AVA product.”

Smart Innovators: Worker Safety TechnologyWe are proud to achieve and be recognised as a Smart Innovator by Independent Analysts – Verdantix.

Their latest report Smart Innovators: Worker Safety Technology:  Highlights the changing EH&S landscape and how technology today is influencing how companies manage and deliver effective workplace health and safety measures.

The report introduction:

Until recently, workplace health and safety professionals have not traditionally pushed the technological envelope. From an entry-level safety specialist to a seasoned vice president of EH&S, most would agree that safety professionals from the past 20 years would be broadly classified as technology laggards. Now, due to a number of factors such as changing demographics, advances in the capabilities of technology, a growing number of connected devices, and new demands on safety professionals themselves, the paradigm is shifting. This Verdantix report takes a closer look at the most innovative technologies altering the safety management landscape, including predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, safety beacons, wearable devices, site sentinels and drones.
