London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest airport and the most efficient single-runway airport in the world. It serves around 200 destinations (more than any other UK airport) in 90 countries for over 38 million passengers a year on short and long haul point-to-point services. The airport is also a major economic driver for the South-East of England region, generating around 21,000 on-airport jobs and a further 10,000 jobs through related activities.
1 in 5 passengers travel through Gatwick on business and the airport serves 47 of the 50 top business destinations in Europe. Among the fastest growing European destinations from Gatwick in 2014 was the business centres of Copenhagen, along with Paris and Brussels. The airport is 28 miles south of London with excellent public transport links into the heart of London and elsewhere.
Gatwick is owned by a group of international investment funds, of which Global Infrastructure Partners is the majority shareholder.
